  1. First, let me welcome you to Comp & Lit II. I look forward to getting to know each of you. My name is Melinda Roberts; I'll be your professor for this class. I'm a fourth generation Californian, born in Martinez, near Berkeley, in Northern California, but grew up in Southern California. I was a paralegal for 21 years before going back to school and getting my teaching credential. I've been teaching at WCC since 2007; I taught in California for 10 years before moving to New York in 2005. I have a BA in English and Comparative Literatures and a minor in Sociology; I have my Master's Degree in TESOL. In five years I expect to be pretty much in the same place, although I would like to be living in a more rural area than where I am now. I enjoy anything related to the arts (music, literature, theatre, movies). I also enjoy traveling -- have visited many countries outside the United States, but have decided that, at the end of the day, there really is "no place like home." My hobbies are needlepoint and knitting, photography, visiting historical sites, and taking care of my four-legged "kids" - Clarence Sebastian and Maxwell (the kitties), and Maxine (70 pounds of lean, mean canine).

  2. Hello Everyone! My name is Rosemary E. and I was born in NYC. I've lived in practically all the boroughs and moved to Yonkers in 1991. For the most part I've stayed in Yonkers, but I've also lived in the Bronx and Georgia after High School. This is my 1st Semester in WCC. I'm working on my prerequisites to become a Registered Nurse. In five years I'm hoping to be well established at a Hosptital and hopefully not in living New York. I really enjoy Art, of any form. On my spare time I love taking my son, Ethan, to museums and to Central Park in NYC. One of my favorite hobbies is doing Walkathons. I do them all year round and for all reasons. My next walk is for the March of Dimes(Premature babies) and then MS Walk. They're pretty long and I do them in the city so I can enjoy the scenery :). Ethan enjoys them as well, Especially from his stroller.

  3. Hello everybody, my name is Hector Rodriguez and I live and was born in the Bronx. I lived in the same neighborhood my whole entire life, so I don't know how it feels leave anything behind. This is my first semester at WCC but spent 3 other semesters at St. John's University. Right now I'm focusing on a Business Administration degree here at WCC but aiming to get into Baruch later on to finish up my associates with a Finance degree. In five years, I see myself finishing up my master's degree and setting my feet into the job world. My biggest interest is music. I love music, especially my heavy metal. I'm always seen with my headphones on and always going to shows when my favorite bands come into town. This leads into my guitar hopes. As of right now, I'm trying to learn how to play the guitar and hopefully I succeed.

  5. Zena W.

Hi I'm Zena. I'm 19 years old and i was born in the Bronx. My birthday is April 3 1990 and i stared my first semester at WCC in September of 09. Right now i am majoring in performing arts and then later most likely science. In five years i see myself doing one of two things, first I'd be acting or singing professionally or i would be in my second year of med school. The things I'm mostly interested in are different types of music and movies or watching TV shows. If a person can't find me around those things then I'm probably getting lost a romance or erotic novel.

  7. Hello, my name is donghyun kim, and nice to meet you all in Comp and Lit II class. I was born and grew up in South Korea, and it’s been almost a year since I came over here. Currently, I’m living in the Bronx. I came to US to prepare dental school. I majored Architecture in my undergraduate back in Korea. This is my 2nd semester at WCC. Past one year has been great changes and challenges in my life since I’m trying to change my main pathway in my life, and I am really glad that I have chosen WCC to build my base-stone. I am working on my pre-requisites and dental admission test prep. Fortunately, I was able to finish almost all pre-requisites so far. As you can expect, since I’m coming from the country where English is not the first language, Composition and Literature course has been feeling more difficult for me to catch up with. However, with great helps from previous professor and tutors, I was able to finish Comp & Lit 1 successfully. I’m looking forward to learning English more in depth, which will embrace me to pursuit my future career. In five years, I expect seeing myself taking care of people whoever have any problem in their teeth.
I’ve been always interested in photography. I think having an architect as a career influenced me getting interested in photography a lot. Even though I don’t have enough time to go out and take pictures at this moment, I still always think about putting them in the view finder whenever I pass by a great scene or interesting things.

  8. Hi everyone, my name is Sandra T, I'm eighteen years old, and I've lived here in Yonkers my whole life. This is my second semester at WCC, and I am majoring in Nursing, although I'm not sure if thats really what I want to do with my life. Because I'm unsure about my major, I don't really know where I see myself in five years, hopefully somewhere between now and then I will have realized what I want to do. I enjoy all kinds of music, playing the guitar, and watching old movies.
