  1. The most outrageous thing that happened to me in a supermarket is when I was doing some late night shopping in wal-mart and a fight broke out. The craziest thing is that I was mistaken for as one of the individuals that were involved.

  2. The only outrageous thing that happens to me in a supermarket is when I get lost. When I was younger, I got lost everytime I went food shopping. Each time my mother would send me to find something. I would go to look for it and find it instantly; but it would take me forever to find where my family was.

  3. I'd never heard of "A&P" until I moved to New York from Southern California in 2005. There's an A&P a couple of blocks from where I live. I'll never forget the shocks I had the first few times I shopped there. The supermarkets in California have wide aisles, so three people can pass through at one time without bumping into each other. Not so at the A&P -- in fact, it's as treacherous and difficult to navigate the aisles of the A&P as it is to fight traffic on the westbound 287 as it approaches the Tappan Zee Bridge; the "drivers" are so aggressive and rude. In California, if there are more than two people in line, the manager calls for another checker; if it's really busy, the manager him/herself will open up a check stand and keep it open until the lines have gone down. Not so at the A & P. A customer can stand in line interminably, and no one gives a hoot, least of all the manager who struts around like a puffed up peacock perusing the lines while simultaneously ignoring them. Finally, is how rude the A&P employees can be! One time I went to the A&P to purchase popcorn. I do not buy microwave popcorn; I buy Jolly Time and pop from scratch. I went to the popcorn section. No Jolly Time!! I searched and searched. Nothing!! I put on my glasses, and searched some more. Still nothing!! When I couldn't find the bags of Jolly Time, I went to the customer service counter and asked for help. After ignoring me for several minutes, the cashier finally acknowledged me. When I asked for Jolly Time popcorn, she grunted unintelligibly and pointed me towards the same aisle from where I had come. I went back and looked everywhere – for a second time. Now I was frustrated. I returned to the customer service clerk, apologized and indicated I needed help. She glared at me, came out from behind the counter and stomped off in front of me. I followed her down the "popcorn" aisle, but instead of going to the end of the aisle where the microwave popcorn was on the right side, she stopped midway to her left, in the middle of the "chips" section, reached up to the top shelf and pulled down the bag of Jolly Time I had been searching for. My mind was boggled. I couldn’t wrap my head around what had just happened. I asked, "What is the Jolly Time doing here in the middle of the chips?" Her curt reply, "There's no room with the other popcorn products," (her intonation "you stupid pain in the a**”) and she stomped off leaving me so stupefied it was several minutes before I was able to regain my composure. That incident occurred about four years ago. To this day, the Jolly Time popcorn is still in the middle of the chips aisle, on the top shelf, between the Lays Potato Chips and the Restaurant Style Tortilla Chips -- but at least I know where to find it! And yes – yes – yes -- I know, Toto, we’re not in Kansas anymore!

  4. Outrageous moments for me never really happened in A&P but it has happened in shop rite or Costo (especially costo on the weekends). The days that the two supermarkets have sales, the lines are extremely long and one could barely pass. And it is usually the way out of the store. Many times when i have tried to go around people to at least get to the next aile of food or to a shorter line, people would jump the gun and assume that I am trying to cut the line, meanwhile all im doing is pass. the sad part about is when, if they see you in the distance, they would continue to complain until you leave out the parking lot.

  5. Well the most outrageous thing to ever happen to me at the a&p is probably them overcharging me for something thats on sale or scanning something twice on me. But actually most recently I was in there with a 3 Dollar off coupon for something, don't remember what it was and the girl manually took off 2 dollars, I didn't let it slide though, times are tough and every dollar counts, so I went to costumer service and got my dollar back.

  6. Well, I dont shop at the A&P, but my most recent OUTRAGES experience was with a UPS man. I was sitting at my desk at work and I hear a loud knock. Naturally, I asked loudly, "Who is it?" There was no answer, so I asked again. Then there was an even louder knock. So, got up and went to ther door and asked who it was; but still no answer. There isn't a peep hole on the door so i looked out the front window and saw the UPS truck. When I opened the door the UPS man was laughing and talking on his cellphone. I asked him sacastically, Excuse me, do you have trouble hearing sir?" He answered as if I was interrupting his conversation, "No. Why?" I said, "I asked several times who it was." He replied, "Oh, I didn't hear you?" At that point I was very irritated. "Well, maybe you shouldn't be on your phone when knocking on peoples doors so you can pay more attention." The UPS man still had his cell to his ear. "Do you want this package or not ma'am?!" I couldn't believe my ears. "Excuse me sir?!" He replies with the most nasty attitude, "Whatever ma'am, just because you work at a doctor's office doesn't mean you have to give me a speech about my hearing!!" Then walks away... still, with the cellphone to his ear. I was outraged! I immediately go to my desk and call UPS to file a complaint on him.

  8. The most outrageous thing that has ever happened to me was in a Pathmark supermarket. The supermarket was extremely packed because there was an impending snow storm. The manager then started a new line and this old lady that was ahead of me proceeded to run me over with her trolley in order to get in line before me. I was so surprised because this lady looked as if she was in her late 80's and she did not eevn apologise. This is the most outrageous thing that has ever happenned to me a supermarket.

I had an A&P market close to my house in Mount Vernon, NY. Unfortunately, they went out of business a year ago and I never had any problems shopping at that super market. Because of the moderate number of people living in the area, service at the supermarket was quite fast. I am still nostalgic of my A&P that was very helpful.
However, I can't say so for other super markets like Stop&Shop which are overcrowded during the weekends. So when I shop during this period, I must prepare myself in the practice of patience, in spite the presence of many cashiers.

Nothing outrageous has ever really happened to me at a supermarket. The only outrageous thing that has happened to me is at the local Walgreens. At the Walgreens that I shop at they have a security guard at night. When i was a new customer there the secuurity guard would always assume i was up to no good and he would make it so obvious that he was following me, making sure I did't take anything I didnt pay for. On the positive side at least I know there's a security guard in case something "serious" ever happens. After going there a couple of times, he knows im a regular customer and has backed off.

The only thing I deem outrageous that happens to me at a supermarket is when I plan to only spend $30 and I end up spending $80. Or, when I go in for only 5 items and I end up picking up 15 items instead. Thats the only time I can remember leaving the supermarket and saying, "this is outrageous".

  13. I’ve never heard of “A&P”. I know only “CVS” and “Duane Reade” in the U.S.A. But I don’t shop at that kind of supermarket. I always shop at “H-Mart”, which is Korean market chain. I can’t remember any outrageous thing in supermarket. The only outrageous thing that happened to me in U.S.A is when I was shopping at Barneys New York in Chicago. I found a jacket that appealed to my taste, so I decided to buy it and I shopped for something else, such as jeans and coats, holding it in my arm. At that time, a clerk came up to me and said, “Do you really going to buy it?” “Sure” I replied. I was Okay at first time. However, after a while, She came to me again and asked me three times more, “Do you REALLY going to buy it?” I could not but think that she thought that I couldn’t afford to buy it or that she hated Asian. I was outraged, so I immediately called a manager and complained.

  14. Well, my dad was a butcher for a supermarket in the city practically my whole life and on weekends he would take me with him, so I would help him cut the meat or pack it up in the boats to put on the rack or even do a little bit of security for the supermarket. I was about 12 years old at the time. What did they think I was suppose to do if I saw someone steal from the store?

  16. I have no outrageous story from a trip to the supermarket. The most that has happened is people getting upset about the long lines or the store not having the items on sale.

  17. I can't say anything outrageous ever happened to me in a supermarket. However, I have had interesting experiences with one homeless man in Foodtown. His name was Mark and I knew him from the neighborhood. He looked like the singer from ZZ Top and always had a distinctive smell!!! He was always asking me for money and cigarettes. I always gave it to him graciously until he start asking me for $10 at a time. I decided to put a stop to it at that point. I had never met a homeless man with such expensive tastes! Anyway, whenever he saw me walk into the supermarket, he would wait outside for me and help me put my groceries in the car,for a fee of course! This happened so regularly, people thought he was my personal assistant! Mark died a year ago. I never knew his last name so I couldnt find out where his funeral, if any, was. I must say I miss that man. He always had a way of making me smile even if I had to pay for it!

  18. Well I use to be an employee at the Mount Kisco A&P, while workiong on the register I was ringing up a customer with her daughter, the little girl looked up at me with a suprised look on her face and then said to her mother, mommy mommy look at him he's black ... and that was the most embarassing and outrageous moment I ever had at A&P.

The most outragous moment that has ever happened to me in a supermarket was in Pathmark when I was five years old. When I was grocery shopping with my mother I got lost. It seemed like it was for hours but really it was just a few mintues, maybe 15 at the most. I was so scarred and nervous. The produce man tried to help me because he could clearly see i was upset. However, I was always scarred of him because he had glasses and a beard. Finally an older lady helped me. I was nervous to be with her because she reminded me of my grandmother. SHe helped me find my mom, what a relief.

While shopping nothing outrageous has ever happened to me.
However, I feel as though in supermarkets people have some outrageous annoying behavior. For instance, while waiting online i hate when people stand directly behind me huffing and puffing showing their inpatients. Then when I step up a bit to get them off the ape of my neck they take two steps up. Can we please keep arms distance, even a foot of space between us.
Another annoying behavior I hate comes from the same type of inpatient person. When you ignore their loud huffing and puffing they do it louder and then begin to talk aloud to themselves. At this point I cannot resist to turn around and see the face of this loud rude individual. Sadly my actions cause them to believe i agree with them.

However, a new supermarket has opened in my hometown of New Rochelle, Shop Rite. It was about 1am ( they close at 2am ) and i was very hungry so i went for a visit. The cashier and I had so much in common, well her daughter and I. We both just moved into an apartment and are currently going under the motions of learning how to cook. Great Conversation at the check out.
